What to do if you're about to be hit from the rear:

  1. Sit fully back against seat and head restraint.
  2. Shrug shoulders firmly to limit neck motion.
  3. Look straight ahead with head back slightly.
  4. If stopped already, apply brake firmly.
  5. If you are the driver, place hands flat against the steering wheel.
